Assemblymember Maienschein Secures $1.4M from State Budget for Programs and Projects in the 77th Assembly District

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Brian Maienschein is proud to announce he has brought $1.4 million from the 2021-22 state budget to five public service organizations and projects in the 77th Assembly District.

“I am pleased to continue to advocate for the constituents and community of the 77th District,” said Assemblymember Maienschein. “This funding will help enrich these public organizations and projects that provide invaluable contributions to San Diego County.”

The five programs receiving funding include Feeding San Diego, San Diego Food Bank, Mission Trails Regional Park, Ed Brown Senior Center, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrols.

Feeding San Diego will receive $500,000 for the purchase of much-needed equipment to continue operations. After being in business for nearly 23 years, Feeding San Diego has provided incredible value to the region by reducing food waste and distributing nutritious meals to hundreds facing hunger.

San Diego Food Bank has been granted $100,000 for the purchase of fresh produce. On average, the San Diego Food Bank serves 350,000 individuals in San Diego County each month. This funding will help the program provide additional fresh and healthy options for community members.

Mission Trails Regional Park will receive $100,000 for trail management and youth camp purposes. This funding is critical to maintain the safety of the park, allowing San Diego County to enjoy the outdoors this summer.

The Ed Brown Senior Center has been provided $300,000 for solar panels and other facility programs and improvements. This facility provides seniors in the Rancho Bernardo community the opportunity to stay active through a variety of group classes and activities.

Finally, five Retired Senior Volunteer Patrols (RSVP) programs in the 77th Assembly District will receive $400,000 for equipment and training. The RSVP program gives seniors the opportunity to assist law enforcement officers by conducting vacation house checks, You Are Not Alone checks, and other community crime prevention programs.
